NASDA (National Space DevelopmentAgency of Japan) has just finished the EarthquakeRemote Sensing Frontier Project (for which the authorwas the principal scientist) conducted since 1996 withinthe framework of the Earthquake Frontier Projects bythe former S.T.A. (Science and Technology Agency).Main emphasis of NASDA's Frontier Project was thecomplete understanding oflithosphere-atmosphere-ionosphere (LAI) coupling bymaking full use of different kinds of observationalitems and finally we would like to contribute to theshort-term earthquake prediction. The most excitingfinding from our Frontier project was the discovery ofconvincing evidence of the presence ofseismo-ionospheric perturbations, which has beenextensively investigated by using the subionosphericVLF/LF propagation, and several important findingshave been presented, including the initial result for theKobe earthquake and a few case studies from manydata.
