Gasification technologies of solid wastes are becoming more and more important for utilization of solidwastes as renewable resources. STAR-MEET system is a process which can gasify solid wastes with asmall size fixed bed pyrolyzer to generate electric power from the produced gas. In this paper, theperformance of the smallest size STAR-MEET system (Micro STAR-MEET) is reported whose wastetreatment capacity is 10~25kg/h scale. Two kinds of materials, namely wood chips and waste plasticswere tested. The results showed that the combustible components in the pyrolysis gas, especially H2obviously increased by injecting steam directly into the pyrolyzer. For wood chips, when steam wasinjected into the gasifier, the influences of parameters in the gasifier on the gasification performance wereevaluated quantitatively. It was shown that the produced reformed gases were usable for power generationusing a dual-fueled engine. The cold gas efficiencies and power generation efficiencies were 70%, 77%and 16%, 19% respectively for both waste materials. These results proved the technical feasibility of theMicro STAR-MEET system using wood chips and waste plastics.
