Inkjet Inline Printing - Identification and Analysisof Critical Production Related Parameters

Inline printing on packaging is becoming an important factor due to marketdemands for shorter product series and flexibility in production. Print speed, setuptime and print quality are examples of important parameters to considerassuring high productivity in the printing process. This paper will identify andanalyze production-related factors that characterize productivity in inkjet printingthrough studies on high-speed inkjet printing. Typical production lines arestudied in parallel to characterize demands from the packing machines as well asother related factors. This paper discusses whether the characteristics of theidentified factors for inkjet printing work in conjunction with the current productionlines. The results indicate that inkjet is an interesting alternative forinline printing, but that the reliability of the inkjet unit is of crucial importance.
