Innovative Groundwater Management Techniquesin Huangshuihe River Basin, Shandong Province,China

摘要

Efficient planning and management of groundwater resources by innovativetechniques have been effective and important for rational use of water resources in northChina.This paper gives an insight into groundwater reservoir management, construction projects,numerical modeling and simulation studies, all carried out on storage regulation and controlbased upon the requirement of operation and management of the Huangshuihe River groundwater reservoir in Longkou City of Shandong Province.The plain area in front of and the alluvium to the sides of the mountains of this region forms alarge and natural aquifer with the characteristics of shallow depth, ease of well exploitation,and relatively easy recharge.Numerical simulations and related studies have been carried out specially for selectedreservoir area sites, reconnaissance information studies, underground dam construction, saltwater intrusion controlling, recharge well drilling, planning the spatial distribution of well sites,ground water resources protection, river and ditch recharge facilities, and maintenance andmonitoring studies and planning.The paper summarizes the innovative management techniques, the numerical modeling, andthe planning, regulation and operation for meeting an emergency in continuous dry years.
