A major key for improving process and driveline efficiency is the dynamic machineadaptation in order to compensate the effects of variable material parameters. But options thereforeare currently often limited or missing. This restriction is mainly a consequence of current power trainarchitectures. Due to centralized power generation, mechanical or hydraulic power is distributed tosingle units by serial structured drivelines with fixed relationships. The machine is currently preparedfor expected conditions before start of work. Decoupling these static links in decisive modules is thecurrent challenge for power train designers and researchers. Additionally, they have to includeseveral background aspects like limited fossil energy and technological changes. Developments inthe last view years in the area of power electronics and direct electric drives, increase performanceand efficiency. Drive train models, which include different power generation scenarios, illustratecompetitiveness of electric structures. Thereby more precise investigations on driveline efficiency areadvised. But for comparable data on efficiency, reproducible loads are required. For meeting theserequirements a test stand is dimensioned, which will load unit drives with their typical load cycles.These are prepared in on-field measurements in a sugar beet harvester in October 2004.
