SIMULATION OF DIFFERENT BUS CONFIGURATIONS IN A PV OR HYBRID MICRO GRID

The usual approach for rural electrification uses a DC BUS, but currently new equipments are availableallowing other configurations with AC buses. This work presents the results of mathematical simulations inMATLAB/SIMULINK with the following configurations: DC BUS, where the whole PV system is centralized, withall the components of the system connected in DC, and only the distribution made in AC; AC BUS and distribution,with different grid-feeding elements such as PV modules and conventional generators, and storage devices, connectedin AC. Different reliability levels were considered for each configuration. The power flow in a simulated test rural network is analysed together with the quality of supplied power (voltage drops). The paper ends with an economical assessment of the proposed solutions.
