In certain circumstances the size of a PV array enables the installer to safely configure an inverter tomore than one possible operating voltage and / or power range. The installer has to make a decision as to whichoperating power range will provide the best energy yield for the PV system. This paper compares the results ofsimulation with field measurements for an eco-home development of nine identical PV systems, each of which uses 2 string inverters configured at different power ranges. The simulations predict that over an entire year there is very little difference in potential energy yield. This is borne out in the initial field results which show a strong correlation with the predicted PV system behaviour
