Within support program “Solaroffensive” of Lower Saxony 1999 to 2003 some individual mediumsizedPV projects with innovative PV components were realized, that are architecturally, structurally and functionallyintegrated into buildings of state, municipal and commercial buildings. Two examples are given. In synergy with rebuilding and enlargement activities a 50.62 kWp PV plant was realized at Hannover Congress Center. The PVsystem combines an innovative PV sunscreen one-axis tracked by thermohydraulic actuation (COLT International), a demonstrative PV fa?ade with alternating rows of blue and yellow PV modules and two cost-efficient standard PVsubsystems mounted onto flat roofs (BP Solar). The PV plant is operated by ENERCITY Stadtwerke Hannover AG,the regional utility company. In synergy with the upcoming constructional and energetic restoration of a schoolbuilding in Barsinghausen, 30 km Southwest of Hannover, a 60.54 kWp was built-up. The PV system applies fivedifferent types of building-specific PV modules that generate electricity, compose a multifunctional part of building envelope (weather protection, heat insulation, sunscreen, daylighting) and enrich architecture (Solarnova, Alwitra Flachdach-Systeme). The PV plant is operated by city council of Barsinghausen. Since commissioning in July 2002 and March 2003 respectively both PV plants are operating almost without malfunction. The PV operators feed the PV electricity into the grid and get a reimbursement according to German Renewable Energy Law.
