At present photovoltaic installations of varying descriptions prevail on the market of grid-connectedapplications. This as well becomes more and more true for different PV-power supply systems in remote areas, whichare operating under stressing ambient conditions like high temperatures and/or nature born air pollutions e. g. in semidesert and desert areas. Especially for self-sufficient systems the continuous deposition of dust at the front cover surfaces of the modules will result in a dramatic decrease of power output. Our work presents the way to find a solution for an automatically operating cleaning unit, which is safely avoiding those additional energy output lacks. At least we claimed that special adapted ‘dry-brushing’ may be the most promising approach, and preferential conception, which was the basis for the realisation and tests of a prototype solution.
