THE INVESTIGATION OF FORWARD ERROR CODES IN UWB SYSTEMS

This paper develops a Forward Error Codes (FEC) scheme for Ultra-Wideband (UWB) system. Convolution code, turbo code and LDPC code are selected to satisfy the requirements of bit rate and the performance for different kinds of applications. And their performances both in pulsed UWB system and MB-OFDM UWB system (data rates are more than 100Mbps) under UWB channel are simulated and evaluated. Simulation results show that these three kinds of FEC codes can fulfill the demands of system, and the LDPC code is a potential selection to replace turbo code by optimizing or redesigning it according to system and channel characteristics, which will be our next work.
