Deep Going Changes in ICT Are Under Way -- A Technical Survey on ICT Trends

An analysis on technical trends in the fields of computer communication, also known as ICT, in the next decade is given in the paper. It is pointed out that great changes in computer communication have been already under way. The driven force for the changes is the demand for the ICT applications to go from the shallower areas that are referred as information sharing to the deeper areas that are led to directly and greatly improving the socio-economic productivity. The progresses that will be achieved in the field in the next decade could be concluded as the following, easier, better and faster in systems dimension, universal and more efficient in architectural dimension, and more intelligent and valuable in services dimension of the network. Changes in systems and architecture of network will be fundamental and yet the progress in intelligent services will be most crucial and significant. These changes may bring a revolution in ICT.
