Analytical Results for Failure Recovery of VLR in PCS Networks

Incoming calls to a Mobile Terminal (MT) may be lost due to mobility database failure in PCS systems. Such database failures can be recovered by the MT's registration when it makes an outgoing call, by periodic location update, by required update as it enters a new location area, or by re-registration made by MT. In this paper we present an analytical model for the performance analysis of VLR failure restoration under several different mobile traffic distributions.
