To meet the need of the multi-party communication in which each participant is both sender and receiver, SSM-FSRM, a new SSM-based Full-Sender-Receiver Multicast routing protocol is presented in this paper. The proposed protocol uses existing unidirectional forwarding tree of SSM to create a parallel bi-directional forwarding tree for multicast forwarding. Analysis and simulation show that its forwarding state overhead, control message overhead, average tree setup delay and average packet delay are smaller than or equivalent to existing multi-source multicast solutions based on SSM, when each participant is both sender and receiver. It combines the benefits of other existing SSM-based multi-sender multicast schemes and has better security and scalability features.
