In this paper, carbon black (CB) was activated by grafting and coupling respectively. Then the grafted CB, the coupled CB, together with the unmodified CB were filled into polypropylene (PP) to prepare three kinds of conductive composites respectively. The measurements of Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR), melt flow rate, and alter-nating current (AC) volume resistivity were performed on the composites. The influence of CB activation on the fluidity and AC volume resistivity of the composites was analyzed. It was found that the variation of fluidity with CB content and temperature changed dramatically and the AC volume resistivity decreased after the CB activation. A model describing the interaction between CB and PP in composites was given according to the corresponding results.
