The statistical strength of short fiber reinforced composites such as polymer matrix composites(PMCs) with different fiber volume fractions is investigated in this work using combinedcell models and Weibull statistical approach. based on the combined cell models [5],statistical combined cell models with consideration of the fiber/matrix-debonding have beendeveloped in this work. The global mechanical behaviour of PMCs reinforced with randomlyoriented short fibers (e.g. polymer matrix composite with 20vol.% or 30vol.% glass fibers) iscalculated based on the rule of mixture. In all cases, predictions of the behaviour by thestatistical combined cell model are compared with experiments and they show goodagreement.
