Human Factors and Safety Integration Tool Kit

The U. S. Air Force requires a system review process for compliance to Occupational Safety and Health Association (OSHA), Air Force Occupational Safety and Health (AFOSH), and human factors regulations and standards. Analysts tend to wade through volumes of regulations and standards to determine which apply prior to performing an analysis or they perform a "seat-of-the-pants" analysis. In ome cases, quite involved checklists are used. Checklists can be unfocused therefore; there can be a great deal of information that does not apply. To improve the review process situation, a set of focused checklists that aid the analyst in performing reviews was developed. For instance, if a system has an electrical system, the electrical checklist is applied. This paper will address (1) the effectiveness of the Human Factors Safety Integration Tool Kit (HF SIT Kit) and (2) the results of a system evaluation.
