COLOUR TEXTURE CLASSIFICATION FOR QUALITY CONTROL OF POLISHED GRANITE TILES

In this paper we propose two application oriented colour texture classifiers. The performance of classifiers is evaluated in a quantitative manner for the characterization of visual appearance of polished "Rosa Porrino" granite tiles. Texture features are extracted from the intensity plane (grey scale image) along with pure chrominance features extracted from the colour components of the RGB colour space. The coordinated clusters representation of images is used for grey scale texture analysis. Experimental results show the high performance of the proposed classifiers that may have industrial application to the similarity judgement of visual appearance of polished granite tiles.
