SMART FORMULATIONS FOR INFRARED APPLICATIONS

The solar reflectance of colored substrates hasreceived growing attention in the past few years. A highersolar reflectance corresponds to cooler temperatures. Thesimplest means of increasing solar reflectance is to addwhite, which of course yields a lighter color palette. Toachieve high reflectance with darker colors it is necessaryto consider the reflectance curves for each component andunderstand that the absorptions are additive. This paperillustrates this concept with examples.
