Ladies and gentlemen, I would like to summarise my presentation here today as follows:If given the opportunity, EMC promises to bring to China a technology that will:1. Modernise China s cement industry within 10 years from the launch of the project.2. Significantly reduce the human impact of modernising the cement industry and thus potential opposition to this undertaking on the local level.3. Modernise China s cement industry at cost reduction of 40% compared to that of building traditional Portland cement plants.4. Provide better cement products that will give longer lasting concrete structures compared to that which is achieved with Portland cement.5. Extend the life of China's reco verable limestone reserves from 35 years to between 70-115 years.6. Reduce by 50-70% the need for imports once the lime stone reserves start to be exhausted.7. Reduce by 50-70% pollution emissions from cement production.8. Absorb the fly ash waste produced from coal-Fired power plants.Importantly, these benefits will be offered at a price that does not exceed that demanded for high quality Portland cement produced at the most modern pre-calcining plants.Finally, but not less important;If the EMC technology was adopted throughout China, a modernised Chinese cement industry would alone contribute some 350-400 million tons of CO2 reductions each year. For comparison, this is about 1/3 of the global objectives of the Kyoto Protocol.Last but not least, on an international level, adopting the EMC technology would make China a pioneer in demonstrating that by supporting innovation one can spur economic growth while at the same time reduce industrial pollution.
