ACCREDITED TRAINING OF PV INSTALLERS IN THE UK

IT Power is leading a project to develop a nationally recognised course to train UK electricians in how to install gridconnected PV systems. The work has involved development of a peer-reviewed syllabus, creation of course materials and documentation for accreditation, training teachers, technical assistance and administrative advice to a number of colleges across the UK, and the development of an accreditation framework. Five training centres will be supported to run courses during 2004. The course has been designed to achieve the requirements of the PV industry (PV-UK), an international renewable energy training quality institute (the Institute of Sustainable Power), a national provider of vocational qualifications (City & Guilds) and the installer accreditation system of the UK PV grant scheme.
