In this paper, truck tanks with mid-plane asymmetric composite material sandwich structures,under hydraulic head loadings are analyzed. The portion of the tank that is treated in thisapproximated investigation is the portion away from the bending boundary layer at each end wherethe response can be approximated as being under generalized plane-strain conditions.The cross section is modeled as a series of sections with straight beams for the top, bottom andsides, and circular ring sections for the corners. Governing equations for these sections aredeveloped through the first order shear theory approach. Numerical analysis is performed using theMaple V program.
