Well logging Techniques have many important applications in coal exploration, suchas determination of coal depth, thickness and quality. Using this method forevaluating coal quality is of great importance. In this paper an attempt is made toinvestigate the coal ash content in Parvadeh-1 of Tabas region as one of the coalquality parameters. Seven boreholes in an area of Parvadeh-1 have been selected andafter lithology interpretation, quality consideration of logs were examined. The regionhas a normal topography and layers of shale, sand, silt and coal are the dominantlayers in the area. Well logging were done in water filled and open boreholes. Densitylog shows that with increase of gamma emission in coal layers the ash content of thecoal reduces. Therefore with a statistical analysis a negative correlation coefficient of82 percent was found between the chemical ash and the density log count rate.
