A Method for the Error Evaluating of Cone-type Profile

A parameter equation is established for processing the data of conical profiles measured by a coordinate measuring machine followed the minimal area principle to obtain better results of error evaluation. The Powell method has been used repeatedly and the first search direction of the Powell method has been changed to seek for different local minimum points with minimum value of local minimum points obtained as the global optimal solution of the objective function. The method was verified with the computer simulation.
