There exist only sporadic information about the hydraulic conditions in hard rock areas, such as interactions of porous aquifers of covering layers and fractured aquifers of the bedrock. Thermodynamic calculations using PHREEQC and NETPATH were made based on hydrochemical data from 15 springs of the water supply of the city of Roetz (SE-Germany) and six highly mineralised water types of the Bohemian Massif in order to quantify mass transfers. This in turn is used to describe possible water-particle-interactions regarding thermodynamic and kinetic limitations, and quantify mixing processes between different types of water (water from the surface runoff, rain, shallow groundwater and high mineralised deep cycling ground-water). These results show good correlations to that from hydraulical models using the programme code FLOWNET.
