Modern stainless steels, especially duplex alloys, provide improved solutions for the most commoncorrosion problems in pulping and recovery equipment. The properties of duplex and other stainless steelsare described, along with practical aspects for selecting the right alloys and getting the most out of them.Typical corrosion problems in the pulping and recovery process areas are reviewed including manysuccessful applications of stainless steels and emphasizing the advantages of duplex alloys in both wroughtand cast forms.
