Retrieval Reactivates Sensory-Specific Cortex as Revealed by Event-Related fMRI

A fundamental question in human memory is how the brain represents sensory specific information during the process of retrieval. One hypothesis is that regions in sensory cortex are reactivated during retrieval of sensory-specific information. Here we report similar activity in the human V4 during color perception and retrieval of color information.
