Interaction between Voice Stimuli and Perceptual Properties of Multi-stable 3D Surface

Perceptual properties of diamond shaped multi-stably perceptible figure were investigated in relation to its orientation. Human visual system prefers to perceive convex rather than concave, and vertical edge rather than horizontal edge. Due to the confliction between the above two factors, different shape could be perceived from an identical stereogram. However, in the saddle orientations, perceptual rate of convex and concave becomes equal, which is defined as balancing orientations. It was different individually but around 37.5 degree according to our experimental setup. In addition, the voice stimuli should have more evident influence on perceptual properties than visual stimuli. It is found that while human beings have ambiguous perceptions of test figures (near 90 degree), influences of voice stimuli on the perceptual properties are the most prominent Most of the participants were sometimes submissive to the voice stimuli unconsciously.
