Functional Imaging Based Anatomical Correlates of Old Autobiographical Episodes of Different Emotional Content and Different Truth Value

Two experiments were done to reveal activated brain regions when normal subjects retrieved old autobiographical episodes. In the first study, memories of positive (happy) or negative (sad) content were compared. In the second experiment, subjects retrieved autobiographical episodes in one condition and invented episodes of a similar content Results showed that in both experiments structures within a network of the expanded limbic system are activated.
