As the Internet grows, traditional information systems show many demerits. Fortunately, agent technology has strike out a way to provide personal and active information services. Since the ability of a single agent is limited, agents should communicate and cooperate with each other to increase the service quality. To address the communicate problem under heterogeneous environments and different communication mechanisms, this article presents CADIA - the Communication Architecture of Distributed Information Agents. Information agent describes users' information requests by KQML and exchanges information with other agents through communicator. Communicator filters the information request and forwards it to the agent that can provide the service. Finally it sends the result or the exception to the client side. Our application experiences show the effectiveness of CADIA.
