A series of hot torsion tests were carried out on 1050 aluminium with the intention of examining the mechanisms responsible for the generation of deformation induced boundaries. A number of high angle (disorientation>15°) boundaries that appeared to have been formed by deformation mechanisms, and which were not associated with re-arrangement or serration of existing boundaries, were identified. These high angle boundaries are characterised by a disoriention axis close to parallel with the sample radial direction. A "full-constraint" Taylor type model was used to simulate the generation of these boundaries by allowing deformation to act on a random spread of orientations separated by boundaries with an average disorientation of 1°.?
