The mechanism of {001}<210> texture development by the two-stage cold rolling method has been investigated by the measurement of micro-texture changes during the final annealing. The {001 }<210> texture, which is preferable for good magnetic properties, was enhanced by the two-stage cold rolling method in which the intermediate annealing temperature was 640°C. The intermediately annealed specimen mainly consisted of <111>//ND small equiaxed recrystallized grains and <110>//RD elongated deformed grains. During the final annealing, the growth of the <111>//ND recrystallized grains was suppressed by the strain introduced by the second cold rolling, and they were consumed by the {001)<210> grains nucleated in the <110>//RD deformed grains.
