EMBEDDING JAVA COMPONENTS INTO WWW PAGES A CLIENT SIDE SERVICE FRAMEWORK

摘要

At first glance, embedding of Java components into HTML pages seems straightforward and simple. If the components to be embedded, however, are more than simple applets, a lot of problems arise, because the concept of applets alone often is not an appropriate solution for using complex java application components within the HTML pages of a web application. On the following pages, a java framework will be described, which in many situations represents a better solution to embed complex, resource-intensive java components into HTML pages. This framework is used for intranet and internet applications which embed Java-based GIS viewer, database query, and report components into the HTML pages of web-based environmental information systems.
