AN INTERNET-BASED EXPERT SYSTEM FOR TAX ORDINANCE INFORMATION

In this study, we present an expert system for locating tax ordinance information on the Internet. The expert system integrates with the hypertext documents. Based on the user's response from the consultation, the system fires the rules when certain conditions are met. Whenever an explanation is required, a HTML document containing explanations of legal terms is obtained from the server and is displayed on the client side for the user's reference. At the end of consultation, the HTML document containing tax advice, the section numbers of relevant ordinances and the name of tax cases are transferred from the server as a conclusion appearing on the client screen. The section numbers and the name of tax cases are shown as hypertext on the HTML documents. Users can obtain the detailed contents of the relevant ordinances and tax cases by clicking the hypertext according to his preference.
