The present paper proposes a new technique to improve a localized sound field reproductionrnsystem on the basis of the boundary surface control principle. The technique realizes relativelyrnflat reproduction characteristics in a flexible form of the localized field by introducing originalrnsound control units that consist of three control sound sources, three suppression control pointsrnand a reproduction control point. The control sound sources in each unit are arranged on a linernperpendicular to the suppression control point line. The reproduction field is flexibly created byrnarranging the units to surround the circumference of the field. The feasibility of the proposedrnmethod is confirmed by numerical simulations in various conditions for 2D and 3D sound fields.rnExperimental results reveal that the method can realize flexible reproduction fields with lessrnleakage into outside fields.
