The present study is focused on improving the numerical prediction method of shock wave rise times developed by Swegle and Grady. Using the Inside Temperature estimate Method for steady-shock wave (ITM) developed by the authors of the present study, shock viscous stresses in shock fronts are estimated accurately The present method, where the viscous stress is incorporated, is combined with a finite difference wave code, and its validity is examined by the reproductions of experimental data for 6061-T6 Aluminum and Iron.
