The prediction of moisture of a centrifuge process is one of the main purposes why labscale centrifugation is employed. Until now most lab scale centrifuges are operated inthe way that the liquor drops off the sample into the machine housing. This leads to theoverall distribution of fine droplets of mother liquor. It is obvious that centrifugal testsof suspensions with hazardous or acid liquids cannot be operated that way. Therefore anew totally enclosed and airtight beaker system for a new lab scale centrifuge has beendeveloped. The filtrate is collected in the beaker and a sensor directly measures thefiltrate flow. So the samples can be prepared in the lab hood, which provides all safetyprecautions necessary for the product. The on-line measurements provide informationon the dewatering kinetics and the final equilibrium moisture.
