LONG TERM EFFECTS OF GAS TURBINE EQUIPMENT UPGRADES ON THE OVERALLPLANT PERFORMANCE AND ECONOMICS

Using the example of a combined cycle plant with district heat export, this paper presents a tooland methodology to evaluate the economic impact of gas turbine upgrades on the overall planteconomics. The tool to predict plant performance with all the details necessary to account forchanging ambient and load conditions, process requirements and economic background is a heatbalance and economics software package. Linking detailed off-design analysis of the plant withall economic parameters of the plant operation, plant revenues and expenses are assessed overthe expected plant life cycle. Based on economic key numbers as e.g. net present value and ROI,the value of the equipment upgrade to the plant is elucidated.
