High Efficiency Continuous Casting Technology and it's Development in China

The continuous casting technology has been developed rapidly in China since 80's, and it had become the one of basic procedure of steelmaking, the ratio of continuous casting of China has arrived at 82%. The production efficiency of casters has been improved rapidly, and the design productivity of billet caster was improved by 74%, the productivity of one strand has been increased 3 times. With the increase of the caster productivity, diversified modes of furnace-caster matching and 100% continuous casting ratio was realized. Through the application of high efficiency continuous casting technology, the cost per ton billet was reduced 10 yuan or so, the total economy benefit of enterprise was 30-80 yuan/ton billet, and vast capital investment was saved. The achievement of high efficiency continuous casting technology are summarized in this paper, the effect of mold design, oscillation mode, casting temperature, second cooling parameters casting speed and output is discussed deeply here. The casting speed on existing casters can be improved by a big margin. The technique and equipment must be selected reasonably when revamping a caster for high efficiency is to be executed considering the individual conditions at any enterprise.
