摘要

Direct linked casting and rolling of medium thick slabs offers economical advantages both in new plants and modernization projects. A key factor is the flexibility to adapt to different boundary conditions and project targets. This is demonstrated by two examples of recently started installations utilizing VAI's proven medium slab casting technology, combined with new technological developments. Motivation for concept selection, design features and project implementation data will be presented. Both machines have been successfully started around New Year 2001. Results achieved in the initial months of operation will be presented and discussed.
