In the recent years, with the improvement of inorganic powder processing and the composite technique of polymers, inorganic powders are widely used in the field of polymer engineering, which have been changed from the generally called fillers to modifiers with high property or functionality. However, as to the present composite technique, the chemical composition of various base polymers, surface characteristics and physical morphology of various inorganic powders make it difficult to bring the practical value of each inorganic particulate to the furthest extent. For the application of inorganic powders, appropriate means should be found to make use of their intrinsic characteristics to improve the material performance as well as decrease the cost remarkably, thus meeting the requirement of more extensive practice in industry. This is of great value for both polymer science and polymer engineering. In the present study, essential methods and principles are proposed to classify all kinds of microcosmic phase interface in polymer/inorganic powder composite systems, making use of the interaction among the compositions. In that case, effective methods are brought forward to design and control the microcosmic phase interfaces, and various composite technics are established to prepare composite materials with high performance.
