Innovative Design and Process Selection for New Water Source and Supply System

Hall County (County), Georgia is one of the fastest growing counties in the metropolitan Atlanta Region. The County is in the process of developing a raw water supply, reservoir and a water treatment plant (Plant) to meet anticipated growth. The source water for the proposed plant will be a reservoir that is filled from two surface water sources.The primary objectives of this paper focuses on the development of a new water supply and treatment system for the County that addresses the following issues:1. Flood issues at the raw water pump station site2. Strict water withdrawal and minimum release requirements from the raw water intake3. Wide variation in the raw water quality4. Concerns associated with runoff quality due to land use.5. Wide variations in the water level in the proposed storage reservoir6. Current and future drinking water regulations7. Allow for future increase in system demands and required Plant capacity.
