While the authors have been closely associated with the development of nuclear QA requirements and standards for more than 30 years and this paper is based in part on publicly available documents, the paper reflects the authors' personal perspectives on the evolution of these documents and associated events. As such, the paper does not necessarily represent the positions or views of the ASME nad other organizations involved in the evolutionary process.
