摘要

Objective of the study is to provide the management with the tool to control the services of itsperformance. It can predict and reflect the effect of terminal's improvement to the servicesperformance. Service's performance of the terminal are affected by many factors such as equipment,manpower, system and procedure, number and size of ship, and many others. To representthe relation between those factors to the services, a system dynamic approach is used. Theapproach will show the effect of any changes of those factors to services performance, to thewhole performance and to the performance of the specific factor.To run The System Dynamic Approach, a computer simulation application program calledPowersim and the cost analysis model are used. The variables used for the model are thepiloting and tugging time for incoming and outgoing ships, cycles time for each containerhandling equipment (I.e. Container Crane-CC, Rubber Tired Gantry-RTG, Top Loader-TL,and Side Loader-SL), Head-truck's headway at each equipment, container loading-unloadingvolume per ship per type (full container/empty container), container receiving and delivery incontainer yard, operation cost and invesment of each equipment. These input data areformatted in a distribution function. The result of the research will be the optimalconfiguration of the whole container handling equipment.To meet the forecasted container demand of year 2000 to 2010, the optimal equipmentconfiguration and the facilities required will be the basic of the container terminaldevelopment program.
