摘要

RFP plasma discharges are highly influenced byn the cahracteristics of the stabilising shell. Some basic issues of their designs such as shell proximity and field error reduction are addressed in the paper. Analytical and Finite Element 2-D and 3-D models have been worked out and used to compare the performnaces of the existing and a new version of the RFX shell.
