The wave-like phenomena observed from both the-oretical and practical study in the remote field eddy current (RFEC) effect are studied by analytical and finite element (FE) analyses. The focus is on the phase velocity property of electromagnetic field vectors and the instantaneous energy flow property. Results show that there exists the steady phase velocity which is significantly diffeent from that relating to the wave propagation, and the change of energy flow, which could be expressed by the energy separating line. is delayed compared with the change of the electric source. The wave-like phenomena result from the eddy current within the pipe.
