EPRG's view of pipeline integrity developments beyond 2000

EPRG's view towards the 21~(st) century is focused towards existing and new pipelines. For the existing pipelines (stress) corrosion, fit for purpose assessment and rehabilitation will be important aspects in order to avoid costly costly replacement in a world of competition where cost saving on the one hand and public safety on the other hand are the main tasks. For new pipelines in the ever expanding European transmission grid higher strength steels and higher hoop stress factors offer new challenges towards cost-effective pipeline laying and operating, while the high safety standards have to be maintained or even improved.
