Whether from human activities or cosmic effects, for human survival, novel technological solutions are needed to keep the global temperature within tolerable margins. With our understanding of climate change and the economics of fossil fuels uncertain, it is evident to address the development of renewable energy systems in a flexible way in order to provide a pool of technologies that can be drawn upon for solutions. Empirical investigations have shown that very few people, also on the level of decision makers, have solid knowledge of techniques to use wind-energy or solar-energy. Renewable energies are not a part of the curriculum at most of the polytechnical institutions and universities of technology. We need new ways of teaching renewable energies. A promising opportunity offers the Internet. Computer languages such as Java and Javaskript allow to include programs and simulation tools directly into Internet pages - not just text and figures. To help to overcome the information deficit on renewable energies a new Interactive Learning System for Renewable Energy (ILSE) was developed. This learning system combines presentation of information with interactive components such as simulation tools and multiple choice tests in the Internet.
