Results of direct numerical computations are reported for the problem of three-dimensional interaction between a circular the cylinder axis. The computations employ a new type of tetrahedral vorticity element (TVE) method which solves the vorticity transport and Riot-Savart equations using a tetrahedral mesh ift to a set of Lagrangian computatioinal points. The computations examine the secondary vorticity field shed from the cylinder and its evolution in the proesence of the primary vortex. Cases with background free-stream velocity oriented in different directions are considered. Computational results are found to be consistent with previous experimental flow visualization results.
