As a result of growing scarcity of landfill sites and environmental problems associated with landifill, incineration is now accepted as the msot environmenta firiendly means of disposing of numicipal solid waste (MSW) safely. However, like all combustion processes, incineration cannot escape from producting harmful pollutants such as dioxins, furnans, SOx and NOx. In municipal solid waste incinerators, NOx emission from the burning wast bed originates mainly from nitrogen in the waste. This is due to the relavtively lower flame temperatures in incinerators than i other combustion systems. The currently popluar method to reduce NOx is based on provide an understanding of the effects of various opartion parameters on the burning solid waste bed.
