A number of full scale experimental investigations have been carried out in different types of industrial furnaces to study the effect of oxygen enrichment of combustion air on crucial furnace operating parameters such as rise of temeprature and rate of combustion, intensification of heat transfer, reduction of heat losses and savings of fuel. Three possible ways for the introduction of oxygen into furnace which include air enrichment, direct blowing and oxygne burners are explained and compared. In addition, the melting and heating furnaces' cotnrol systems are discussed. The obtained experimental results for a number of cases are presented showing the advantages and benefits of use of oxygen for cupola furnaces, rotary kilns, glass melting furnaces, metal heating furnaces and eleftric arch furnaces.
